Policies

Privacy Policy:

NSW Electrical Contractors takes the privacy of its customers very seriously and will only record and use personal information to maintain customer accounts and in the course of providing our electrical services to customers.  This policy explains when and why we collect personal information about our customers, how we use it, share it and how we keep it secure.

Customers' Personal Data:

Our customers’ names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses will be collected and stored for the purpose of contacting our customers to arrange visits to their residences or premises to carry out electrical maintenance and repairs, following a request to do so by the customer.  The information is obtained verbally in person from the customer by the Proprietor or employees of NSW or from an e-mail direct from the customer to the NSW Electrical e-mail account or from a contact request completed on our website.

Customers’ names, addresses and/or e-mail addresses will also be used to send paper or electronic estimates and/or invoices direct to customers and to maintain our customers’ account.  The personal data stored electronically in our customers’ accounts, is only accessed by the Proprietor and the Finance Administrator.  All personal data is securely stored at the office of NSW Electrical, to protect against unauthorised access, disclosure or destruction, until a time when it is no longer required, when it will be safely removed or destroyed, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

We do not share customers’ personal data with any external parties, except with the customers’ verbal or written authorisation to pass on their details to another contractor, who may be required to carry out a specialised part of their electrical job, such as aerial installation, building work, trenching or data cabling.  The customer’s name and address will also be passed electronically via the Planning Portal to Building Control, when electrical work has been carried out at a customer’s residence, which requires Part P Electrical Safety certification in compliance with Building Regulations legislation.

We do not carry out direct marketing to our customers and our customers will only be contacted to arrange electrical work, or where the customer has specifically requested in writing that we contact them annually with a PAT testing reminder.

Our customers have the right to request a copy of the electronic and paper records we hold on file.  Such requests must be made in writing to the Proprietor Nigel Wilkinson at the address above and NSW Electrical Contractors will respond in writing within one month of receiving the request.  Our customers also have the right to have their personal data removed from our records in certain circumstances as laid out by the ICO.  Further information regarding the capture and storage of personal data is available from the ICO at ico.org.uk.
